I’m using default 2022 theme on my WordPress blog. I want to use different templates for different categories. I can’t figure out how to do it. Any tips?

In pre-Gutenberg themes we used to have a field showing number of comments on post listing and on main post pages. I can’t find any such block in Gutenberg theme. Does anyone one know how to show comments.
